Unlocking Mysteries of The Imaginology Kit (Part 2)
7. Room To Grow
One secret aspect of the Imaginology Kit is that there is room to grow! We encourage and are delighted when parents and children find their own treasures and materials to add to the kit. The more you add, the more possibilities are inspired!
8. The Brushes
The brushes are a very fun tool in the Imaginology Kit, with many hidden purposes! They are always a fun tool for making noise, brushing the other materials in the kit and balancing on top of the containers. However, one reason they were put in the kit is because of the chalk! Children can use the chalk to draw on whatever they like inside or on the kit, and the brushes are provided to help remove the chalk. They can be used wet or dry, and the stiff bristles make them ideal for scrubbing away any remnants of color, so the chalk can be used again on clean surfaces.
9. Your Very Own Filters!
The flashlights in the kit provide ample opportunity for exploration with light! They are great for examining other materials closely with the magnifying glass, and giving some light to a dark playing area. Some of the other materials carry the secret purpose of also being filters for the flashlights! The neon cups can be used to alter the flashlights’ color and create a very cool neon glow. Plus, the organza bags and fabrics are translucent enough that they can also be used as filters for the flashlight’s glow! The bags can even tie around the base of the flashlight, securing it in place.
10. What’s That Smell?
Shhhh… don’t just listen but use your nose to discover this secret. There is a smell component of the Imaginology Kit! We include a cinnamon stick specifically to make sure that all five of the senses are stimulated and inspired. If you think the cinnamon has lost its smell… think again! Add a little water to cinnamon, and observe how the smell comes to life.
11. Secret Properties
You will make many discoveries in the Imaginology Kit about the materials and how they interact. One very cool secret is in the wood! Wood is usually known for floating, particularly the cork which boasts an incredible buoyancy. All of the wood will float, except for one… the ipe! Ipe is a dense wood that sinks when put in water. See if you can figure out which piece is ipe!
12. A Little Help…
We know “No Instructions” can seem very daunting, so we do not leave you without inspiration! If kids need a little bit of help getting going, we have many “Kit Clips” on our Dream Big Science and Art youtube channel that show just a few ideas of how to use the kit! We also have received some wonderfully positive reviews from toy reviewers on youtube who also have videos on how they used the kit from The Lucky Penny Shop to The Childhood Life. Check out the videos, and if you have any questions at all, please contact us by phone or email!
